Harrogates Fight against Against Cancer

Join the Fight Against Cancer: Volunteer at Harrogate’s Race for Life Event on 20th July 2025!

Are you ready to make a difference and have an unforgettable experience this summer? On Sunday, 20th July 2025, the iconic Race for Life is coming to The Stray, Knaresborough Road, Harrogate, and we’re calling on enthusiastic volunteers to help us beat cancer.

Whether you’re cheering participants across the finish line, setting up the course, or lending a friendly face at the information desk, your contribution will be invaluable.

Why Volunteer?

Cancer doesn’t rest, and neither do we. With 400,000 participants across the UK raising a staggering £26 million last year, Race for Life events are pivotal in funding life-saving cancer research. Volunteering is your chance to be a part of this incredible mission while enjoying an energetic, heartwarming day with your community.

What You’ll Be Doing

Volunteers are the backbone of Race for Life events. Here’s how you can contribute:

  • Event Site Volunteer: Help set up and pack down the event, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
  • Course Marshal & Obstacle Marshal: Cheer participants on, guide them through the course, and ensure everyone has a fantastic time—mud included!
  • Enquiries & Admin Volunteer: Answer questions, process on-the-day entries, and be a friendly face for participants and spectators.
  • Cycle Volunteer: Support and motivate participants by cycling parts of the course (bring your own bike).

No matter your role, your energy and enthusiasm will help make the day memorable for everyone involved.

The Perks of Volunteering

When you volunteer, you’re not just supporting a great cause—you’re gaining an experience to cherish:

  • Meet amazing people and make new connections.
  • Develop skills in event management and communication.
  • Boost your confidence and gain valuable experience for future roles.
  • Enjoy being outdoors, staying active, and contributing to your community.

Time Commitment and Accessibility

Volunteering is flexible, with options to join for a few hours or a full day. Whether it’s an early morning setup or cheering participants as they cross the finish line, there’s a role to suit your schedule.

Accessibility: We welcome everyone and can accommodate individual needs. If you require adjustments, let us know at volunteering@cancer.org.uk.

What to Expect on the Day

You’ll start by meeting other volunteers and receiving a briefing from the event team. From there, it’s all about teamwork, positivity, and having fun while making a difference. Light refreshments will be provided, and you’ll be supported throughout the day.
