Age Friendly Network for North Yorkshire

Age Friendly Network themed meetings next year the Age Friendly Network will be hosting a series of inclusive, themed network meetings, where members will be able to set the agenda. This offers a great opportunity to share your experience of living in North Yorkshire as an older person. Each meeting will offer relevant guest speakers, participation from relevant services and organisations, and the chance for you to think about the topic and tell us what’s important to you. The meetings will be held every 2-3 months and will be open to anyone aged 50+ living in North Yorkshire. Organisations working with older people will also be invited to attend.  With that in mind, we would like to hear from you which themes you would like us to focus on. Possible options include transport, housing, social participation, community support and health services. To gather your views, we have produced a very short survey and hope you will take a moment to complete it.We will confirm the details of the first meeting in the New Year and provide information on how to sign up and register to take part.Complete our short survey here

Claims must be submitted by 21 December to qualify for a winter fuel payment this winter. Free guides and factsheets can be ordered from Independent Age along with advice on financial help during cold weatherRead more here

As part of this work, the council is seeking your views via an online survey. Free slippers at Pickering LibraryDid you know that one of the most common causes of falls by older people is loose, worn or backless slippers? To help combat the problem, Pickering Library is holding a ‘Slipper Social’ on Friday 6 December. Anyone attending will be offered a free pair of new slippers and the chance for a sit-down and a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. View the event poster
